The National Program and Project Management Policy Framework (NPMPF) originated from the report of the Task Force on Program and Project management constituted by NITI Aayog to address time and cost overruns in India’s infrastructure projects.
Released in June of 2019, the Task Force report laid down a pathway to bring about radical reforms in the ways infrastructure projects are executed in India. It acknowledged the urgent need for adopting and embedding Program and Project Management in India and introducing a common language of Program/Project Management across the government and industry. Recognising the importance of a National Program and Project Management Policy Framework (NPMPF), the Task Force entrusted the Quality Council of India to develop and operationalise the framework.
The vision of the NPMPF is to institutionalize the practice and profession of program and project management in India.
